One of the stranger things is that I have 'Windows Security Center' turned 'OFF', so where does Microsoft get the nerve to be scanning my files without my permission? It ran for over 50 minutes, tested 68.7 GB (over 235K files), and reported 'No threat found'! I have Avast antivirus, program version 5.0.677, virus definitions version 110505-1.ĭoes anyone know why I might be getting this conflicting info. #AVAST 12.7 ANTIVIRUS FOR MAC SAYS UNPROTECTED SOFTWARE# This window can not even be closed - I either have to select one of the 2 mentioned options, or shut down my computer to make it go away!Īfter seeing the list of 'infected' files, I opened my Avast free antivirus software and ran a 'full scan'. Then, it asks if 'I want to activate the Antivirus Center and remove all the threats' (for a mere $79.95!), or to 'continue unprotected'. Periodically, it opens an Antivirus Center Firewall Alert window, which says that 'it has prevented a program from accessing the Internet', 'iexplore.exe is infected with a Trojan worm which has tried to use it to connect to a remote host and send your credit card information'. that an IE Monster process is found, and that it would send passwords from IE to other websites! Something called 'Windows Defender' said that it has detected spyware. A Firewall Alert that said 'your computer is being attacked from a remote machine', and it gives an Attacker IP address and an Attack Type of 'RCPT exploit'. It's not displaying now, but there was a list of (I think) a couple hundred or more 'infected' files. Two days ago, out of the blue, my desktop system started displaying all kinds of security alerts from the Windows Antivirus Center:

Is Archer VR900 compatible with Time Machine? Sudo tmutil setdestination -a does not support Time Machine backups. Then I repeated commands #1 and #2 above (after the defaults change in #3). Time machine still can't 'Select Disk' for backups.Ĥ. Sudo defaults write TMShowUnsupportedNetworkVolumes 1 Then I tried to make Time Machine 'see' other drives too, (I read it somewhere but I'm not sure it is still applicable/effective): Volumes/volume(sda2): Disk does not support Time Machine backups. Sudo tmutil setdestination -a '/Volumes/volume(sda2)' The backup destination could not be added. Sudo tmutil setdestination -a resulted in:ĭisk does not support Time Machine backups. The device can be seen normally as a network drive, and also Time Machine can mount the backupbundle and see it for accessing backups (already written inside it via USB) BUT it cannot backup TO it when requested! AirPort doesn't see it either.Īdditional things I tried using Terminal.app: I bought a Seagate Expansion 10TB USB drive and it doesn't cooperate correctly with Mac's Time Machine when connected to the Archer VR900 router.
